Sunday afternoons mean free entry to most of the art galleries and museums, if you don’t mind art appreciation that’s a little more crowded. What? The Appearance of Reality – 50 Years of Realist Art in Spain
This comprises fifty selected works from three different generations, artists born in the 1930’s, 1940’s and 1950’s. Each piece of work in the exhibition, whether they be figures, interiors, still life art or views, show us connections to the outstanding masters of the Realism of the past.
Where and when? Museo Carmen Thyssen. Now showing until September 10th.
What? Starck: Secret Drawings
On May 10th, 4,000 sketches were unveiled at one of the most popular museums in Málaga. Secret Drawings are a representation and exploration inside Starck’s mind, allowing us to discover his focus, work, and creativity.
Where and when? Centre Pompidou. Now showing until September 17th.
Music to your ears
What? Ara Malikian
Ara Malikian is a Spanish violinist of Lebanese origin who has won numerous awards worldwide, establishing him as a great artist. He has performed in the best concert halls around the world, and this is a fantastic opportunity to hear him play.
- Where and when? You’ll have to wait until 10th August, so not strictly a current event, but one worth buying tickets for in advance. The venue is Estepona, Plaza de Toros de Estepona, Calle Santo Domingo Guzmán.

What? The Uva Festival
A little further away, but still within the province of Malaga, sees the Descalzos Viejos bodega (formerly a monastery) presenting the Uva Festival. This is mainly electronic music and visual arts. There will be European DJs and producers, famous in the clubbing world of Europe’s capital cities.
When and where? Bodega Descalzos Viejos, from the 2nd to the 4th of June.
