Each town is traditionally made up of areas with different characteristics, settings and real estate value and whilst Marbella is by no means a conventional town, the same rules apply with regards to knowing where to purchase a property. 

The finest addresses in Marbella, are those havens where you will find the most impressive mansions, all set in extremely exclusive urbanisations, tend to be found either on the beachfront, or in country club setting slightly inland. Among the most famous are the Golden Mile, with its famed beachfront location, which lures visitors and residents alike, and La Zagaleta, which is a private country club that ranks as the most secluded and luxurious urbanisation in the whole of Europe.


Nearby El Madroñal, is a gated community of large, luxurious villas that create the perfect harmony between Marbella glamour and country life. Also nestled in the foot hills of  Marbella’s La Concha Mountain – is Sierra Blanca, which in spite of its secluded feel, is just a few minutes drive from Marbella’s downtown area and is fast becoming the place to be, when it comes to owning a luxury property in Marbella.

Head a little further to the west, towards Estepona and it’s a question of whether you prefer the peace and tranquillity of a luxury suburb such as Nueva Andalucia or the hustle and bustle of Puerto Banús. Considered to be one of the more expensive parts of Marbella in terms of square meterage, with luxurious penthouse apartments overlooking the marina the penthouses of Puerto Banus are within walking distance of shops, department stores, famous designer outlets and fine dining restaurants, not to mention the yachts, nightclubs and beach clubs that add to the port’s glamour.


Just inland from the glitzy lifestyle of Puerto Banus, is the area known as Nueva Andalucía and nicknamed the Golf Valley, because of its concentration of world class golf courses. It is a tranquil residential zone dominated by villas and pretty townhouses, dotted all around the championship golf courses such as Los Naranjos, that you can find here.

Moving further along the main coast road, in the direction of Gibraltar, you come to two prestigious areas. One of which has been on the rise with regards to new developments and modernisation over recent years and those are San Pedro de Alcantara and Guadalmina. San Pedro was once a sleepy beachside fisherman’s town, with very few expats living here. It is now a thriving hub of restaurants, boutiques and organic cafe’s combined with stunning new developments, which continue to contribute to property values in the area steadily increasing.

Guadalmina Baja, whose peaceful tree-lined streets all lead towards the beach, is perhaps the last of the grand addresses before you come to the exclusive beachside apartments of the New Golden Mile just east of Estepona, which provide another highly exclusive beachside area with some of the finest seaside properties to be found in the Marbella area- proving just how diverse even the further afield areas of Marbella are.
