Every summer, there are an incredible amount of things to do in Marbella and the surrounding areas. And with the holiday season just around the corner, the town of Marbella is already bursting into life. With the famous Ocean Club opening party already having taken place on May 2nd and Nikki Beach Marbella following suit in just a couple of weeks, all of the beach and night clubs in the area are preparing for lift off. The Marbella Luxury Weekend: June 5-8
This festival originally started as a result of an initiative by the Ayuntamiento of Marbella and focuses on everything luxurious. There is a particular focus on fashion this year as major international designers present their collections on a catwalk floating in the Mediterranean Sea. If you like immersing yourself in fine cars, cuisine and jewellery and you’re looking for a way to spend a weekend in Marbella, then this is for you.
Fiesta de San Juan: June 23rd
Certain festivals seem to summarise life in Spain, with its love of having a good time in the company of friends and loved ones. The Night of San Juan is definitely one of these events. It is a celebration that is usually held on the beach with roaring bonfires, drink, food, and friends. It is a memorable, almost surreal scene and one that needs to be experienced. Taking place along all of th beaches of the Costa del Sol, those living in the Marbella area and seeking a vibrant party, traditionally head to either San Pedro beach or The New Golden Mile.
Starlite Festival: July/August
If you’re wondering what to do in Marbella on a summer evening, try this. Starlite is a huge month-long festival that draws some of the biggest names to Marbella. Artists such as David Guetta, Julio Iglesias, Tom Jones and Kool & The Gang are playing at this festival which features music, fashion, art, film and gastronomy. The largest charity event of Spain, the Starlite Gala, is also held during this festival and is presented by Antonio Banderas. Tickets go fast, so make sure you get yours soon!
San Bernabé Fiesta: June 9-14
This festival and summer fair is dedicated to the towns
patron Saint, St. Barnabas. A tradition held high by the locals, this is a chance to experience the authentic Marbella culture as locals join in to make music, dance, eat and participate in religious procession from noon to dawn. There is an abundance of activities during this week, including the feria queen election, flamenco shows, fireworks and modern dance.
Champagne Spray Parties
One of the most famous Marbella events, the champagne parties held at the Ocean Club and Nikki Beach are an extravaganza of luxuries. Ocean Club boasts one of the largest outdoor swimming pools in Spain and hosts the best DJ’s, drinks and food, these lush parties are only accessible to those who can afford a luxurious lifestyle. Experience partying at its finest at one of these two decadent venues.
